Director of Music
Silas Daniel has been the principal accompanist at JOY Lutheran Church since September 2019. Originally from Jacksonville, Silas graduated from Jacksonville University with a B.M. in Music Composition and Theory in 1997.
Introduced to music at an early age by his grandmother, music has been his passion for over four decades. Prior to assuming his role as principal keyboardist at JOY, he was the pianist for two churches in Jacksonville in addition to substituting at other churches around the city. He has participated in two handbell choirs and played electric bass in a church contemporary worship band.
In addition to his music career, Silas has also worked in technical and management positions with several in state and local government entities for over twenty years. He is currently serving as the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) manager for the City of Wildwood.
He currently resides in Oxford, Florida, with his wife of twenty-five years, Melissa, and their four children. They also share their home and yard with a menagerie of animals that includes three dogs, a cat, and two dwarf goats.
