Ben Crane (Kurt Russell) is a horse trainer who is struggling to connect with his precocious daughter, Cale (Dakota Fanning). But then a horse by the name of Soñador suffers a broken leg after its evil owner (David Morse) races her despite Ben's advice. Rather than put his client's injured horse down, Ben adopts her and welcomes Cale into the family business. They train Soñador to race again as grouchy but kind-hearted Grandpa (Kris Kristofferson) lends his encouragement.

OUTREACH MINISTRY

School is out, summer is here, so let’s think about    BACK   TO SCHOOL. Last year JOY sponsored two Elementary Schools’ Second Grades with filled backpacks.  This year, we would like to take a broader approach by supporting Tools 4 Teaching.    Here is some information from their website.

‘Tools 4 Teaching exists for one reason – to help teachers in our local classrooms.
Created in early 2009, Tools 4 Teaching provides “Free” school supplies to teachers and students in our local classrooms.  Tools 4 Teaching, located inside the Public Education Foundation of Marion County, is open to all full-time teachers working for Marion County Public Schools. Teachers can shop once a month for needed classroom supplies – everything from pencils, paper, art supplies and much more.  With the help of many volunteers, the T4T store has
given out more than $5,000,000 in school supplies! ‘

We will be collecting supplies starting in June, but continuing all year long.  In August we will be making a delivery of the supplies we have collected and touring the store. A plastic bin will be set up to accept your donations.  We will also have a box where you can make cash donations (which we will convert to a check –only way they accept monetary donations).   A partial list follows. Remember, ALL types of supplies are welcomed and needed.

Remember this is something we will be doing all year long.   Your participation is key to its success. You can find out more about the Store at: https://pefmc.org/programs/tools-4-teaching/
